Headteacher Message
This is a bumper newsletter packed full of lots of important information you need to know for the coming weeks, so please take the time to read through it.
Festive activities
Christingle Service – Sunday 7th December
We are excited to take part in the village Christingle Service at 5:00p.m, following the Christmas tree lights switch-on. The children will be making their Christingles in school on Thursday 4th December. Please can we ask that every child brings an orange into school that day (we will provide the raisins, tape and candles).
Reindeer Run - Thursday 18th December

The student council have requested that the Reindeer Run is back for another year! The children will run 2,4 or 6 laps around the field, depending on their age and ability, to raise money for Farleigh hospice.
We will provide the children with a pair of reindeer antlers (kindly provided by Farleigh) and ask for a minimum donation of £2 per child please. I have also attached a sponsor form here if your child would like to try and raise even more money.
Farleigh Hospice provides free care and support to people across mid-Essex who are affected by life-limiting illnesses or bereavement. All funds raised will help their dedicated team continue this vital work.
Last year, I had the pleasure of being Santa. However, I soon discovered that the children were much faster than me! If anyone is a keen runner and would like to volunteer to have all the reindeers (children) run after them on the day, please let the office know.
Eco Hat Parade - Tuesday 16th December
We are thrilled to announce our Eco Hat Parade is back for another year!
For those of you who are new to the school, this is a long-running tradition at our school (Welcome to all of our new families, in addition to reception, we have welcomed 13 new families this term!)
Children are invited to bring materials into school on the 16th so they can design, make and wear Christmas hats made from recycled or reusable materials. This is a great opportunity to celebrate creativity and sustainability. The most sustainable and creative hats will receive a prize.
Home School Agreement
Please can I remind everyone that our Home–School Agreement is available on the website under Parents Info. I encourage you to take a moment to review it and remind yourselves of its content. Working together is essential to ensure we provide the very best education for our pupils.
I have also uploaded a copy of this year’s School Development Plan for your information - here. Thank you for your continued support and commitment.
FOGWS
A huge thank you to our amazing FOGWS team for their continued support in organising events and fundraising for our school. At the moment, they are working hard to prepare for the Christmas Bazaar, which will be held at the Village Hall this year – please look out for raffle tickets coming your way!
Unfortunately, the recent Movie Night had to be cancelled due to a lack of volunteers. If you are able to help with this or any other events, please let a member of the committee (or the school office) know. We desperately need more helpers to make wonderful events like the School Disco and Summer Fayre happen.
In previous years, FOGWS have raised money for:
- The running track
- The Early Years canopy
- Book bags for every child starting school
- Contributions to events like the pantomime
Recently, they have helped us buy more books to update our Recommended Reads and are currently fundraising for storage and equipment for OPAL play.
The team are all volunteers – many with full-time jobs – who come together in a fun way to plan these amazing events that raise money for extras the school budget simply cannot stretch to.
So please, if you can, consider helping out. We are particularly looking for new committee members, as some of our long-standing members will be moving on next year.
Thank you for your support!
