Headteacher Message

Easter Service Celebration

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Easter service today. We are grateful to Revd. Dan for an inspiring and enjoyable service.  The children spoke and sang beautifully.

Parents Consultations

I am pleased to report a great sign up for our parents/carers consultations. These meetings are crucial for creating a strong partnership between parents/carers and the school, and they play a significant role in supporting our pupils’ academic and social development.  I am always so proud of how much our children achieve both academically and socially. I hope you enjoy looking at their work.

OPAL Update

It has been wonderful to see the children playing so freely across the school field, and the tyres have been a huge hit! A big thank you to Mrs Boyle and Miss Schofield for their continued hard work in developing this provision.

Unfortunately, the installation of our new sandpit has been delayed due to some planning barriers. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

In the meantime, we are working on enhancing our digging area and are looking for railway sleepers to help define the space. If you have any sleepers you would be able to donate, we would be extremely grateful. Please let the school office know.

FOGWS

A huge thank you to Mrs Mitson and her wonderful team of volunteers for their hard work and commitment to the FOGWS committee over many years. As you may already know, Mrs Mitson has decided to step down as Chairperson, and several long‑standing committee members will also be finishing at the end of this academic year as their children move on from the school.

This means we are now looking for a new Chairperson, additional committee members, and, of course, more volunteers to help continue the fantastic work FOGWS does for our school community.

To gather some momentum, we have organised a meeting at 3:15pm on Tuesday 14th April in the school hall. Childcare will be provided, so please do come along, find out more, and consider getting involved. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Our pupils in Years 3 and 4 have been learning about the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. They have taken part in discussions exploring fairness, equality, and how we can all play a part in challenging discrimination.

The NSPCC has some really helpful guidance for parents on how to talk to children about racism and racial bullying. You can find their advice by following this link - Talking to children about racism

As we approach the Easter break, we would like to take a moment to thank all our families for their ongoing support and involvement in our school community. I look forward to seeing many of you at the parents’ consultations this week.

Looking ahead, please keep an eye on our school calendar for upcoming events and activities. We wish you all a joyful Easter break filled with happiness and family time.

Happy Easter!

Mrs Justine Brooks

Parking Reminder

A polite reminder to please park safely and considerately when dropping off or collecting children.

  • Do not block neighbours’ driveways or garages, even for a short time.

  • Avoid stopping on double yellow lines, zig zag lines and corners as this restricts visibility for pedestrians and other road users.

Your cooperation helps us maintain good relationships with our neighbours and keeps everyone safe around school. Thank you for your support.

Wilderness Foundation will be running our Neurodiversity Outdoor Camp on Thursday 2nd and Friday 10th April, from 10am-3pm for young people age between 9-14 at £80 per participant per day.

The Neurodiversity Outdoor Camp is for young people experiencing challenges with mental health, behaviour and neurodiversity needs. Many young people can present with all these challenges together and we are increasingly aware that we need to support those with neurodiversity in a more dedicated and focused way. We have traditionally organised holiday camps and, recognising increasing needs for families and young people, we are running a specialist camp for those with neurodivergent needs.

For more information and booking form, please visit https://wildernessfoundation.org.uk/neurodiversity-holiday-camps/

Online Safety & Mental Health

What Parents & Educators Need to Know about Adult Animated Content

Adult animated content is increasingly visible on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and streaming services. While the bright visuals and cartoon style may seem harmless at first glance, many of these shows and clips are created specifically for mature audiences, featuring strong language, sexual references, graphic violence and unsettling themes.

This #WakeUpWednesday guide helps parents and educators understand the risks, from misleading visuals and algorithm-driven recommendations to desensitisation and edgy humour. It also offers practical advice on platform settings, open conversations and building children’s critical thinking, so young people can navigate online animation safely and confidently.

What Parents & Educators Need to Know about Online Trends Encouraging Violence

Violent clips, online ‘wars’, and shock-value challenges can spread rapidly across social media feeds – often appearing in front of young people who weren’t actively looking for them. This guide explains how algorithms, messaging groups and viral trends can expose children to real-world violence online, sometimes normalising harmful behaviour or encouraging risky offline actions.

It also highlights the emotional, social and legal risks linked to engaging with violent content. From anxiety and community fear to the dangers of sharing or promoting violent posts, the guide offers practical advice for parents and educators on discussing online safety, understanding the law, and helping young people respond positively and responsibly.
