During our collective worship today we remembered Her Majesty The Queen and the children were invited to reflect and pray. Throughout the day the staff have been listening to the children and answering any questions they might have. Rest assured, they have been in very capable hands.
If you would like some further advice about talking to your child/ren about the death of the Queen, please follow the link below to an article that you may find helpful.

Once national mourning plans are announced, we will advise you of any further plans for the school.
Open evening
It was great to see lots of you at our open evening this week, I think the children really enjoyed the opportunity to show you around their new classes. Thank you to the kitchen staff for providing delicious samples of the school dinners for us to try. We’d also like to thank Mandy Morris from EPC, the new company who are providing tag rugby this term and to Dominic, from Rugbytots who was getting the children very excited about Dragon Ball Club.
FOGWS - We are very grateful to those who expressed an interest in signing up to help with FOGWS, we can’t put on events without lots of help so please come along to the AGM on Monday 12th September at 6.00pm, in the school hall. We are also in need of a treasurer as our dedicated treasurer of nine years has understandably decided to move on! If you are interested in volunteering in any way please contact FOGWS at fundraising@greatwaltham.essex.sch.uk
Breakfast Club - Breakfast club is available daily in the school hall from 7.30am. The children enjoy a varied breakfast selection and many activities including crafts, games & lego. For those who prefer a relaxed morning, we have a chill out zone. Click this link for further information: Breakfast Club
Although my first week at Great Waltham ended on a sad note with the passing of the Queen I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know your children and I have been very impressed with their behaviour, manners and attitude to school. I look forward to welcoming you to either my headteacher’s coffee morning or afternoon tea next week. The kitchen has kindly said they will bake us some of their lovely cakes so it will definitely be worth coming!
