Friday 20th October 23 - Autumn Term Issue 3

Headteacher Message

Today’s celebration assembly marked the end to our first half term of this academic year.  Well done to all those children who received a Platinum Award today and thank you to those parents & carers who were able to join us to mark their children’s success. Over the past seven weeks, we have recognised many of the children’s achievements through our class certificates and ASPIRE awards.  Well done to all those children and thank you for your support, parent partnership is so important.

The children have produced some excellent artwork as part of our Get Creative For Climate Justice project.  We would like to welcome you in to school to view the artwork at 3:15pm on Friday 3rd November. We will also be displaying some of the art around the local community and I will send you more information about this once it is finalised.

3PR

3PR will start up again after half term.  Our mission is to remove inconsiderate parking outside of our school. This includes parking on the yellow zigzags, over driveways and on double yellow lines. Our Year 6 children will be on patrol during the busiest times of the day and anybody who walks, scoots or cycles into the 3PR zone will receive a token to add to their class token box. The class with the most tokens will receive the 3PR certificate in assembly each week. Below is a map showing a yellow highlighted area, this is our 3PR zone. I will be talking to the children about this during an assembly after half term.

Christingle Service Sunday 3rd December

In the week leading up to this, the children will be decorating oranges with red ribbons, dried fruit or sweets and a candle. Class teachers will be in touch with more information nearer the time but we hope to see you all at the Sunday service which will be led by Rev. Dan.

Headteacher’s Tea and Cake Afternoon - Friday 3rd November at 2:30pm

Please come and join me on Friday 3rd November for some tea and delicious cake provided by our school kitchen.  Younger siblings are very welcome to attend.

I wish you all a happy and safe half term and look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 30th October.

Mrs Brooks

Supporting Children to Deal with Upsetting Content

They might not be able to pinpoint its location on a map, and they might not fully grasp the historical and political drivers behind the conflict – but in this age where news, images and video can cross continents in seconds, many children are now aware of the terrible recent events in Israel. It’s a situation, of course, that could cause youngsters extreme distress and worry.

Our guide contains some valuable pointers for supporting children to deal with upsetting content they’ve encountered online – whether that’s the attacks in Israel, ongoing worries over the environment, or something else entirely. Our tips will assist trusted adults in helping young people to process any negative emotions that they may be feeling.

What Parents and Carers Need to Know about EA Sports FC

For 20 years, FIFA dominated the football video gaming arena, attracting legions of devoted fans and scooping up accolades like a digital Real Madrid. After parting ways with the sport’s governing body, however, renowned developers Electronic Arts (EA) have now launched their own individual bid for the title. It’s called EA Sports FC 24, and its effectively FIFA 2.0.

Familiar action delivered by the same team, of course, points to a comparable level of popularity – especially among those young gamers raised on the FIFA franchise. As our guide highlights, however, EA Sports FC 24 also carries many similar risks to its predecessor, including addictive gameplay, abusive voice chats and expensive in-game purchases.
