Thursday 28th March 24 - Spring Term Issue 5

Headteacher Message

Dear all,

Well done to all of the children who received a Platinum Award in our celebration assembly today and a special mention to Bobby, who received the first ever Headteachers ASPIRE award for consistently demonstrating our ASPIRE values.

Thanks to the FOGWS for organising and judging the Easter egg competition, we had lots of creative entries and I’m so glad I didn’t have the tricky job of judging the winners!

Last Friday, the children shared their science experiments. As ever, the quality of work amazed me and I hope you were able to come into school and view the exhibits.  Thank you for your support with this. We really appreciate it and recognise the importance of the home school partnership in achieving the best outcomes for our children.

As we approach the summer season, we are looking for some volunteers to lend a helping hand with tidying up and gardening in our lovely school grounds. Below are the details of this family event, which the FOGWS are supporting.  I will be sending a letter with some more details and a form for you to complete, but for now, if you could save the date, we would really appreciate it.

Family Gardening Event:

Date: Saturday, 27th April
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
Location: GWPS Primary School Grounds

As ever, it’s been a busy term and I am sure you are all looking forward to a rest.  I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 15th April.

Justine Brooks

Breakfast Club

What an amazing month we have had at breakfast club. The children have shown maturity and willingness to help others by listening to EYFS & KS1 children read on World Book Day. The children created the London skyline & places of interest using wooden bricks and connect toys. We got crafty and decorated Easter eggs from lots of different resources and to finish off the term we enjoyed delicious hot cross buns and an Easter egg hunt!

Have a wonderful Easter and see you all next term.

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Clickbait

While scrolling online, you’ll almost inevitably have come across posts or links with headlines like “You Won’t Believe These 10 Crazy Facts about …”. Such lurid language – and the often-dubious nature of the content it promotes – has become something of a running joke on the internet. Yet while these articles are often laughed at by communities online, they can have an insidious side.

Clickbait, as it’s known, can frequently function as part of a trap: intended to draw users in for the sake of advertising revenue or, in worse cases, masking an attempting to collect their personal information. This #WakeUpWednesday guide explores the various risks of clickbait and offers some top tips for evading the pitfalls of this controversial marketing technique.
