Headteacher Message
As we approach the end of another bustling week, I'm thrilled to announce that our school has been awarded the Active Essex Key Stage 1 Award. This recognition of our good practice in physical activity, PE, and school sport across KS1.
On Monday the children took part in another iSingpop workshop. The children learnt about Lent through fun and engaging activities, songs and dances which all accumulated in a celebration assembly at the end of the day. We hope to share some of these songs during our Easter service on Wednesday 2nd April at 10.00am.
This week is Book Week and children have been completing activities in class. Well done to the winners of our ‘read in an unusual place’ competition. Please see the news item below for some very entertaining pictures! Thank you to those who were able to support the book fair which is open after school today for the final time. A special mention goes to our fantastic FOGWS for their initiative with the Wonky chocolate bars – what a tremendous success that proved to be!
The FOGWS volunteers continue to work hard to fundraise for the school and I'm pleased to share some key dates for your diaries:
- Friday 28th March: Movie Night
- Saturday 26th April: Family picnic & games, combined with a morning of jobs around the school grounds
- Saturday 28th June: Summer Fete
Additionally, plans are underway for a Disco – we will confirm times and dates soon.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting week coming up with British Science Week. Our theme this year is 'change and adapt' and the children will be learning about different scientists in class.
Please remember Parents Evening appointments are available to book and we look forward to seeing many of you there.
We are pleased to be able to share the below picture with you. A member of the public found this picture of our school from around 1910-11 which was when his grandfather attended the school. School attire has changed somewhat since then!
It's been a wonderful week of bright sun shine, long may it continue! The children are keen to use the school field again so here's hoping it will be less muddy soon!
