Wednesday 19th March 2025 - Spring Term Issue 5

Headteacher MessageHello Spring Clip Art Images - Free Download on Freepik

Spring has definitely arrived and it is great timing with the start of the new classroom build.  Over the coming weeks I hope to provide you with regular updates on the project. Currently, the compound is set up and the area is ready for work. The foundations for the building will be prepared next week, with the large delivery vehicles arriving over the Easter break to fill them with concrete. While we anticipate minimal disruption, I must highlight that next Wednesday 26th March, will be particularly noisy due to the digging process. If your child typically uses ear defenders, please ensure they bring them to school next week. Rest assured, the subsequent stages of construction should be considerably quieter. The classroom is scheduled for completion by the 18th August so fingers crossed!

Well done to our KS2 cross-country team who took part in an event held at CSAC last week. Their impeccable behaviour and perseverance throughout the event were a testament to our school values. Special congratulations to Sadie and Bertie, who secured first and second place respectively, earning their spots in the finals. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and the entire team's performance.

Reading Shed

We now have a well-stocked reading shed for the children to use during lunchtimes. We are keen to make this space even more inviting and organised for our children. To achieve this, we would like to ask if any of you have any small plastic or wicker boxes that you no longer need, which could be used to store books in the reading shed. If you have any suitable boxes that you are able to spare, please consider donating them to the school. Thank you

FOGWS update

Once again, a huge shout out to our FOGWS volunteers for all their hard work behind the scenes organising events for the children. Below is a reminder of upcoming events;

Friday 28th March Movie Night

Thursday 3rd April Easter Egg Competition

Saturday 26th April Family picnic & games (tied in with school grounds tidy up morning)

Thursday 22nd May School Disco (new date now confirmed)

Please keep checking the school calendar and your class WhatsApp groups for confirmation of timings.

Tonight is the first night of our two parents evenings. These evenings are an invaluable opportunity for us to work together in ensuring your child is happy and making good progress. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there.

Best wishes,

Justine Brooks

What Parents & Educators Need to Know about Roblox

Whilst they can be a great way for friends to socialise, online games like Roblox that allow multiplayer gameplay with strangers are always fraught with a variety of dangers that can expose children to inappropriate or harmful content. Roblox enables people to play anonymously, which can often be something that attracts people to misuse the game and potentially put young people at risk of harm.

In addition to interacting with random strangers across the world, other factors such as in-game purchases and potential scams can also pose a financial risk. It’s important that parents and educators remain aware of the risks associated with this popular title and how it can be used safely. This free guide – also available in podcast format – offers parents and educators expert advice on what can be done to ensure that young people have a safe and enjoyable experience with Roblox.
