History

Studying history enables us to develop a better understanding of the world in which we live. Building knowledge and understanding of historical events enables us to develop a much greater appreciation for current events today.

Through the study of history in our school, our intention is for our children to develop a sense of chronology, and to build an overview of Britain’s past as well as that of the wider world. Our children will learn how to investigate and interpret different sources of historical information, and to make links between significant people, periods of time and events. They will also consider how and why people’s lives have changed and been shaped and influenced by past events. Whilst doing so, they will be encouraged to become independent learners, to carry out research and to question and think critically.
