Ofsted & Results
“Pupils thrive here because the vision of, ‘Let all that you do be done in love’, is evident in all aspects of school life.”
— Ofsted 2026
Our recent Ofsted inspection
We are delighted to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 9 September 2026. The inspection found the school to be at the 'Expected Standard' across all areas and recognised the many strengths of our school, and most importantly, the positive experience of our pupils. Across the school, inspectors found a community where children feel safe, valued, supported and listened to. Our Christian vision, “Let all that you do be done in love,” is at the heart of everything we do.
A school where children blossom
We are incredibly proud that inspectors recognised the warm, inclusive and nurturing environment we work hard to create for every child.
“Pupils blossom in the school's inclusive and nurturing environment. They feel safe and know that adults will listen to and support them if they have concerns.”
— Ofsted 2026
Inspectors highlighted our strong commitment to inclusion and recognised the thoughtful support provided to pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, enabling them to access learning successfully and participate fully in school life. They also recognised the positive relationships between pupils and staff, pupils' good behaviour and their strong sense of belonging.
Our ASPIRE values in action
Our ASPIRE values — Aspiration, Strength, Perseverance, Integrity, Responsibility and Empathy — are woven throughout school life.
Ofsted recognised that pupils understand and demonstrate these values through their everyday experiences. Our wider opportunities, including performances, competitions, visits, residential experiences and fundraising, help children to develop confidence, independence, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.
“Leaders are committed to ensuring that every pupil has a voice and feels valued as a respected member of the school community.”
— Ofsted 2026
A commitment to every child
Inclusion is central to our school.
Inspectors recognised that staff identify pupils' individual needs accurately and with compassion, with effective adaptations and support enabling pupils to learn alongside their peers and engage meaningfully throughout the school day. This is something we are particularly proud of. At Great Waltham, we want every child to know that they belong, that they matter and that they can flourish.
A school recognised by our community
We were delighted to receive such warm messages of congratulations from both our Local Authority and the Diocese following the inspection.
| “The inspection findings rightly recognise the positive culture you have created, your commitment to inclusion and wellbeing, and the strong relationships that sit at the heart of the school.” — Essex Local Authority 2026 |
| “The inspectors describe a school where pupils feel valued, safe and supported, where inclusion is central to leaders' thinking, and where staff work thoughtfully to ensure that all children can access and participate fully in school life.” — Diocese of Chelmsford 2026 |
These comments mean a great deal to us because they reflect what we strive to achieve every day: a school where children are known, loved, encouraged and supported to be the very best they can be.
Looking ahead
Ofsted recognised that “Leaders are highly dedicated to the school. They understand the school's context very well. They use this knowledge to identify what is working effectively and where further development is needed. They take measured action when improvement is required.”
We will continue to build on our strengths, always keeping our pupils at the centre of our decisions. We are incredibly proud of our children, our staff, our governors and our whole school community.

SATS results 2026
Although these results are still provisional, we also want to share our Key Stage 2 SATs and Multiplication Tables Check outcomes from the previous academic year, of which we are equally proud of. We achieved results above the national average in all assessed areas, which is a fantastic achievement for our pupils and a reflection of the hard work of both children and staff.
