EYFS
In our Early Years class, we provide a rich environment where children can explore, create and learn through play. They will develop strong foundations which will support their whole school life, from learning how to hold a pencil to developing skills to navigate friendships and everything in between!
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework and support children's development across seven areas of learning.
Prime Areas:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Specific Areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Through a language-rich environment and high-quality interactions, we support children to start their school life in the best way possible. We encourage them to engage in adult-led activities to develop specific skills and knowledge whilst also providing plenty of opportunities to explore, discover, experiment, create, solve problems, make decisions and communicate with their peers. As the year progresses, we support the children in developing the skills needed to learn, developing their working memory, adapting and applying their thinking, being independent in their learning choices and managing their behaviour and emotions.
We have access to our own outside area as well as the main playground and forest area and encourage children to explore the natural world as much as possible.
